Sending Holiday Cards To Our Troops

The Gallery Collection, a Corporate Holiday Cards Company, has created a gift in support of Solders' Angels, a group of volunteers that provides aide and comfort to men and women in various branches of the United States armed forces. They donated cards to be sent to each soldier to wish them happy holidays as well as giving them a card to send home to their families. These cards will be sent with care packages provided by Soldiers' Angels. There are multiple ways you can help Soldiers' Angels. By "adopting" a soldier, you commit to sending him/her one card or letter each week and at least one or two care packages per month. If you do not have the resources for that sort of commitment, you can join one of the various teams that provides different types of support or you can give a financial donation. Either way, I'm sure our troops would love to receive something from home during the holidays.

The Gallery Collection has a great assortment of business greeting cards. Please continue the holiday tradition by sending greeting cards to your friends, family and colleagues.

Christmas cards

It's that time of year again! When everyone starts collecting addresses and buying their Christmas cards. At my full time day job, we've already bought our corporate holiday cards. I believe we got Patriotic Christmas Cards this year. Luckily, I'm not the one in charge of purchasing the annual holiday cards and gifts for our clients. The Gallery Collection is having a Christmas cards scholarship contest for high school and college students. The contest runs until January 15, 2008. You can submit artwork, photographs and computer graphics for your entry. I know I have some creative readers out there. I hope some of you qualify for this contest. It would be really neat to know someone who made the artwork on a greeting card.

National Memory Screening Day

November 13, 1007 is National Memory Screening Day. My step-grandmother has Alzheimer's so she's recently had to be put into a full-time home for Alzheimer patients. The whole ordeal has caused a lot of problems for my aunt and my mother. (Mostly because my grandfather and his wife live in California while we all live in Pennsylvania.) That is why it is very important to get your memory tested. You can find a screening site in your area for you and your loved ones. It can be difficult to recognize the beginning signs of dementia and Alzheimer's. A good idea would be to read the Alzheimer's Foundation of America website for tips on the signs of the disease as well as tips on how to age well.

While it is important to find a cure for Alzheimer's, it is even more important to find proper care for those that suffer from the disease. Often times, patients require around-the-clock supervision so they don't wander away or injure themselves. Making a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America is a good start to making sure that caregivers can give their patients the attention they need. It must be scary to not remember who you are or where you are. Let's all work together to take care of those that need our help.
