JDorama review: Sasaki Fusai no Jingi Naki Tatakai

Title: Sasaki Fusai no Jingi Naki Tataki Also known as: The Sasaki Couple's Merciless Battle Broadcast dates: 1/20/08 - 3/23/08 Number of episodes: 10 Genre: Romantic comedy Cast: Inagaki Goro, Koyuki Plot: Sasaki Norimichi (Inagaki) and his wife, Ritsuko (Koyuki), constantly battle each other. The two lawyers take their fight to court and put their marriage on the line. What is good: Some of the comedy bits are quite funny. What is bad: The character of Ritsuko is a bit too much. I don't think anyone could put up living with her. Letter rating: C

The only reason I watched this show is because I have never seen a drama starring Inagaki Goro and I wanted to see what his acting was like. Since this is a comedy, I can forgive the blatant over-acting. It actually goes with the theme of the show quite well. Sadly, it is my beloved Koyuki's character that is difficult to swallow. The writers tried to make the main characters very different people. Norimichi is a responsible clean freak while Ritsuko is an irresponsible slob. When I say slob, I don't mean she is a little messy. If Norimichi doesn't clean up, their apartment is almost floor-to-ceiling trash. While I understand that it is supposed to show how different they are, I really don't think anyone could put up with Ritsuko's sloppy ways. However, in the end, I was interested to see whether they would get divorced or stay together. I'm just glad there isn't a sequel.

The State of Me

I wish I had things to talk about. Unfortunately, December is more than just the regular holiday rush for me. It's also my busiest time of year at work. Needless to say, this doesn't leave a lot of time for the fun things in life. There are only two and a half more weeks of the month though. Hopefully things will slow down again and I will have more time to have fun. I am almost finished my current jdorama. There's only one and a half more episodes left. I'll try to finish it next week. Thank you for your patience!

Ah, weather

To complete my crappy week, it has been raining for the past two days. Of course, that means there is a lot of flooding in the area. Luckily, our basement doesn't really flood so I don't need to go shopping for goulds pumps. On the other hand, it is December and the temperatures are dropping. That means all this rain is supposed to be turning into snow sometime today. I really hope that it doesn't. The roads are slippery enough without having to add ice and snow to the mix. Go away winter!

It's a bad bad week

This week is turning out to be awful. My car wouldn't start this morning. My husband had to drive me into work so I could spend the day fooling around with the reporting engine. (Ooh, fun.) I'm afraid to see what will happen tomorrow. I really hope that my car get fixed by then. It's December and I have a metric ton of stuff to do. I can't afford to be waiting around for my car. Someone send me some good juju!

I want summer back

Despite my best efforts, winter is still coming. For some people, that means skiing season. My mom and my sister used to ski a lot back in the day. They even had their own Black Diamond Poles. Personally, skiing is too cold for me. I spent that time in the lodge with some hot chocolate or shopping. For me, winter is a time to hibernate and wait for the warm weather to come back. I'm ready for you to come back summer!

Hot Tub Wishes

After a very long day, I am pretty sleepy. I wish we had a hot tub I could relax in or a nice indoor pool with pool heat pumps to keep me warm. I don't want it warm enough that I'd fall asleep in it. Just enough that I could relax and get a bit of stress relief before heading to bed. Alas, I don't have a heated pool or a hot tub. I'll just have to make do with a hot shower, even though it's not the same.

Cleaning Suggestions

Does anyone have some good suggestions for cleaning stainless steel sinks? I happen to be working from home today because my daughter wasn't feeling well and I noticed that my kitchen sink is pretty gross. I think I heard something about using steel wool on it but I would hate to scratch up the sink if I misremembered or something. Oh, and I don't want to use anything that will hurt my animals. Not that they ever get into our kitchen sink but that is where I fill their water bowls and wash all of their food bowls. So it can't be something harmful.

Ludwig's Corner debate

I know I don't normally write about political issues but this has made me a bit angry. There is a local horse show property called Ludwig's Corner. Apparently the township would like to purchase the property to turn it into a park. (Though there is a bit of a debate about whether or not that is their true intention.) The owners and the township haven't been able to come to an agreement. In response, the township decided to condemn the property and pretty much take it away from the owners. I'm not the only one who thought it was ridiculous. A large group of people, about 300 in total, saddled up their horses, put on their english riding boots, and protested at the township building. As far as I know, there hasn't been any sort of decision since the protest. I hope that the township will reverse their decision and realize how stupid it was.

Movie review: The Muppets

My family took a break from the hecticness that is December to check out the new Muppet movie. My husband and I were fans of the original Muppet Show. We've even shown a few of the episodes to my daughter. (I think it was, specifically, the Star Wars episodes.) Needless to say, this movie was right up our alley.

Gary (Jason Segel) and Walter (voiced by Peter Linz) are brothers that share a love of The Muppet Show. Years later, even after the show has gone off the air, the two of them continue to watch old recorded episodes of the show. When Gary decides to take his long-time girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) to Los Angeles for their 10th anniversary, he decides to take his brother with them to see The Muppet Studio. Walter accidentally finds out that oil tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) is going to buy the studio in order to tear it down so he can drill for oil. Together, Gary, Mary, and Walter help Kermit the Frog get the gang back together to raise $10 million to keep their studio and the Muppet name.

Despite a tiny candy problem (my daughter lost a tooth in a Milk Dud), we all had tons of fun. As usual, there were a bunch of cameos that we giggled over. The songs were extremely fun, if a little cheesy. My favorite was Cee-Lo Green's "Forget You" sung by Camilla and her chickens. And there was even a montage for finding some of the Muppets. Miss Piggy got a "let's travel by map!" (Even though some cheap conferencing could have done the trick.) Everything was perfect for a Muppet movie. Jason Segel hit this out of the ballpark.
