Such a busy weekend

First off, I'd like to say thank you to all of our servicemen. While I did not post my usual Happy Memorial Day graphic yesterday, I did spend some time honoring our soldiers. The rest of the weekend was super busy. I went bowling with my husband and daughter, we did a little bit of shopping, and I watched way too much television. (I'm up to season 3 on Numb3rs.) And, out of completely curiosity, I took a gander at a victoria secret job application. I've heard rumors about how Abercrombie & Fitch won't hire 'ugly' people and that there is a space on the application for managers to code the applicants looks. I guess I wondered if Victoria's Secret had something similar since I've never really seen an ugly VS retail employee.

If you are wondering, it didn't. It looked like every other job application I've ever seen. Ah well. No drama there.

Morning Radio

I used to listen to Danny Bonaduce's radio show when it aired in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the station decided to change its format and let him go. (Big mistake.) One of the bits he had was "Danny Bonaduce, Life Coach" where people would call into the show with their problems and he would give them advice on how to solve them. A lot of the problems were sexual in nature and a lot of the solutions Danny gave were testosterone boosters. I was always surprised about how often that came up. I figured that, if people listened to the show enough to actually call in themselves, they would already know what Danny's answer to this particular problem would be. I really miss listening to his show in the morning. My morning commute just isn't the same.

Memories

My mother was in nursing school when I was very young. Some of my earliest memories are laying in bed while she studied with medical textbooks all over the place and her wearing some cheap scrubs during some of her practical tests. While I am most definitely not a medical person, I believe that this is why I manage to retain a lot of medical information easily. I had to get certified in CPR and First Aid and throughout the class I was wondering why we were learning such basic and easy information. I expected it to be more difficult for me. At least now I have the little certified cards saying I can properly take care of your wound!

A different type of recycling

Normally, I don't get along very well with my father. However, I will admit that he can be very creative sometimes. He 'recycled' an old medical cpu cart and turned it into a toolbox on wheels. Now he can just wheel the entire cart around instead of carrying a heavy box or trying to carry all the tools he needs for a project. Since there are a bunch of different drawers on the cart, he can easily organize his tools too. One drawer for various hammers, one for different wrenches, etc. It is a pretty ingenious way of organizing his garage. Props Pops.

It's Field Day!

Today is my daughter's Field Day at school. Unfortunately, it's been raining all week so they will probably have it indoors. I am working from home today so I can take a few hours to go see her races. There is also the added benefit of catching up on some old shows I had queued on Netflix. Luckily, my tv mount stand is tall enough that I can see the television from my computer. Multi-tasking FTW! (I'm answering the telephone, watching TV, and fixing PowerPoint slides all at once. I rock!) I love working from home!

Joomla vs WordPress

In case you didn't know, I use WordPress to run this website. I used to use Serendipity but I had tons of problems with it. It seemed that a lot of larger sites used WordPress without any major problems. While I was doing my research on various software products, I came across joomla. (I was even thinking of buying hostgator joomla webhosting at the time.) However, I couldn't find anyplace that used joomla successfully. Even now, years later, I can't decide if I made the right decision. Then again, I'm a little weird like that. I always second guess my decisions. I've never had any problems with WordPress...I just always wonder if joomla might be better.

I need a new chair

My computer chair at home is falling apart. I'm not sure if I should just buy a new one or try to find a good leather chair repair place. On one hand, it's pretty comfy. On the other, it's in really bad shape. A new one would probably be better but then I'll have to break it in again. I hate buying new chairs though. It's such a pain in the butt to find one that isn't...well, a pain in the butt! What computer chair do you use?

The Stress!

It is 10AM and it is already a very stressful day. Of course, my problem is that people act stupidly way too much. (See? I didn't say people WERE stupid because that is offensive. Even if it's true.) Unfortunately, there seems to be an extraordinary amount of those people at my workplace. So after resting my aching brain all weekend, Monday morning is super stressful. I need to go somewhere quiet where there aren't tons of people. There are some nice outer banks homes for sale but I think they tend to get a lot of hurricanes there. That would be the opposite of unstressful. *sigh* Maybe I just need a new job.

It's Friday!

I am so excited! We're starting our summer hours at work this week. It means I get out of work at 4PM instead of 4:30PM. Yes, I know it's only a half hour but it makes a big difference. It gives me just a little bit of time to myself before I have to pick the daughter up from school and the husband comes home. Summer also means the card companies really start sending out their brochures for Photo Christmas Cards. Normally, we start receiving the brochures in February but they don't really start picking up until after Memorial Day. Some days we'll get three or four catalogs in the mail each day. That is a little ridiculous. Of course, they all go in the trash until around November. Then we'll start looking for cards. Not any earlier than that. Who really buys Christmas cards in the spring anyway?

Still Hanging On!

It is almost the end of the school year. A lot of my free time is currently being eaten up by my daughter's activities. Last Thursday was her band concert. Last night was her chorus concert. Next week is Field Day. In a couple of weeks, recital. Unfortunately, that means that my jdorama-watching is going very slowly. I am still watching Hito ni Yasashiku but I'm only up to the third episode. I'm going to try really hard to get the series finished before the end of May. Please bear with me. Until then, I give you some North Face Clothing to drool over. Some of their stuff is super cute. I particularly like the Eat My Dust Sport Tank. You know, I never thought I would be the type of person that spends a lot of time looking at exercise clothes. Now I spend way too much time trying to find something cute yet inexpensive. (Sorry, $75 for pants is way too expensive!) Anyone have any suggestions for inexpensive cute workout clothes?
