Cute birthday invitations

My daughter's eighth birthday is coming up in a few months. As usual, I'm starting to plan it already. Does anyone have any good links for places to buy party invitations? We're planning on having a cooking party so something food-related would be awesome. But I don't want anything that looks too "grown up." I'll be checking out the regular party stores as well. Hopefully I can find something really cute!

Let's help the animals!

I don't do this sort of thing very often. But I would really like to help more than I actually can on this case. The Berks County Animal Rescue League (which is where we got Yumi) helped rescue 15 horses, 2 dogs, and 2 goats from a local farm. All of animals are extremely emaciated. When the officers raided the farm, there was no grain nor hay on the property and the barn was filled with manure. I can't put into words how much this angers me.

So my mother, my daughter, and I are going to the local feed supply store to pick up as much feed/hay/whatever as we can to help these poor animals. I would like to give more than I can. Please feel free to re-post or link this entry!

This is where you come in ^_^

Any money you toss into my PayPal account between now and the morning of Saturday, October 10 (say, like, 10AM Eastern), will go directly to buy stuff for these starving animals. If you have a specific type of animal you'd like your money to go to, make a note and I'll get something for that species.

Entertain the kiddies

Ah, Monday. This weekend wasn't nearly long enough. My daughter had dress rehearsal for her dance classes, which took up our entire Saturday. Next week is the recital, which will also take up an entire Saturday. the teachers at the studio ask the parents to bring something for the kids to do while they aren't dancing. There aren't any televisions in the dancers' waiting area so we're kinda left to our own devices. (I volunteer to help backstage.) I generally bring coloring books and crayons. I think last year I brought those magic pen books where the ink 'magically' shows up when you use the pen. Other than that, I'm out of ideas for inexpensive and clean ways to entertain the kids. We're talking about kids aged 7 to about 10. Ideas gladly accepted!

My legs are tired and my eyes are broken

My mother and I walked in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Pottstown this weekend. It was a pretty successful event, though now I am absolutely exhausted. My legs are still sore! On a sadder note, my glasses broke on Friday. Last week, I was diagnosed with 'contact lens overwear.' (Yeah, I wore them too much.) The only glasses I had were an already broken pair from about five years ago. So my husband fixed them up for me to make them mostly wearable. Well, on Friday, the right arm snapped off. My new glasses should be arriving tomorrow. Until then, though, I can't really see well enough to finish watching Mop Girl. Forgive my slowness. I'll finish it as soon as I can! I swear!

Update

Sadly, I still don't have a lot to talk about. I've been watching Mop Girl with Keiko Kitagawa. Hopefully I'll have that finished by next week. I also have the Relay for Life this weekend. Donate here, if you want to ^_^ I've been debating taking some sort of lessons again. I took tap last year and I've looked into voice or piano lessons. Unfortunately, I don't think I can afford any of them this season. I think I need to marry a rich man so I can take tons of classes and do nothing but dance and sing all day!

Back again!

Yesterday, I went to Atlantic City with my mother and my sister. We had a pretty good time. The Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds concert was at our hotel so it was a little weird to see a lot of little girls walking around the hotel/casino area. But we still had a lot of fun.
