Today starts the exercise portion of the healthy living lifestyle I started. For the next 7 weeks, there will be no soda and no foods containing high fructose corn syrup. Breakfast will mostly consist of bagels or fruit. Lunch will be salads or soups. I hope my husband will keep dinners on the healthy side as well. (He does the cooking in our family.) Then, on Wednesday nights I have my jazz funk class and on Thursday nights I will have zumba. I don't think I'll drop tons of weight but it would be nice to lose something like five pounds. At least it would be a start! And once I get thin, it'll be time to get young! Wrinkle creams review, here I come! (Kidding!)
My new nails
Happy almost-4th of July!
My family went to see some fireworks tonight. First, we went miniature golfing. My husband claims he didn't total the scores, which means I probably beat him ^_^ Then we had some ice cream while we waited for the fireworks to begin. This year was much more spectacular than last year. Tomorrow we have a picnic at my aunt's house. With all this terrible holiday food, I'm going to need a colon cleanse or something! Ewww!
Dancing is over!
I did have something to talk about yesterday. Thanks to some server issues, I completely forgot what that was. I'm sure I'll remember eventually. My daughter and I had our dance recital on Sunday. It went very well but it left me so worn out. Now I have a summer free of dancing. Well, almost. My daughter is taking a jazz/hip-hop class on Wednesdays. However, my mother will be taking her to that. I don't have to look at the studio until August. Yay!
(I almost want to look for testosterone cream that works to see if that would make girls less....girly. A big huge room of chattering girls can give one a big huge headache!)
More hard drive space for me!
Sadly, I still haven't done anything worth writing about. Well, I suppose I can publicly thank my husband for getting me a 500GB external hard drive for Mother's Day. ^_^ I'm always complaining that I need more space for my music and jdoramas. Now that I have plenty of space, I just need time. Does anyone know how to add more hours into a day? For those of you that don't know, I take a dance class Wednesday nights. This year it is a jazz/hip-hop fusion class. I really enjoy it, but I'm thinking about switching to horseback riding instead. See, horseback riding works all of the muscle groups. Dance mostly works the legs. My goal is to get rid of my belly fat (without "fat burners" like apidexin) and I think a more rigorous activity would help. And I could do that early Saturday or Sunday morning, which gets it out of the way and leaves me all night to do whatever. I like nights better than mornings.
Let's Get Back To Geeky Work
As I said last week, there has been a massive change at my job so I have been extremely busy. (No fat burner pills for me! I now come home with sore feet and knees from all the running around. That's a good thing, right?) Thankfully, I think everything has been taken care of. Now I can get into a groove where I can finish my work on time and still have a bit of time left over to update The Geek. Thank you for sticking by me. Let's all hope that something like this doesn't happen again.
And the stress melts away
This is a rather exciting time for my family. My husband starts an awesome new job in a little over a week. Besides being a career boost, it's also a rather large financial boost. That means that we'll be able to do more of the things we want to instead of having to wait months to save enough money. One of the items on my list is a day at the spa. A nice facial (reading prototype 37c reviews..I'm not sure if I want a wrinkle reducing thing. My face isn't all that wrinkly yet...), a lovely massage, and the obligatory manicure and pedicure. I think I'm going to treat my sister to a spa day for her birthday this year. Everyone will have such a nice time relaxing and being pampered for once.
A Little Scary
Every day, I drive down a fairly major road on my way to work. People frequently drive around 60 miles per hour, even though the posted speed limit if 45 on most of the road. On my way home last night, there was a rather major accident. Surprisingly, it was not at the blind intersection. (If you are making a right or left turn off of one of the side roads, you cannot see if anyone is coming at you on the major road. You have to just take a deep breath and hope.) It was merely a person not yielding the right of way while making a left-hand turn. One act of stupidity sent four people to the hospital and had the possibility of seriously injuring two children. Luckily, the children were safe. I got stuck in the traffic build-up that resulted from the accident. (I showed up about 15 - 20 minutes after the actual crash.) Everyone had to turn around and find an alternate route to their destination. I, somehow, managed to get to my daughter's after-school program about one minute before they closed. *whew*
So here is my public service announcement: Drive carefully. I won't say "Obey the speed limit" because you won't. (I know I don't.) But do it cautiously. Keep tabs on what other drivers are doing. If you don't think you have enough time to make a turn before an oncoming car gets there, wait. There is nothing so important that you can't wait another 10 seconds for a car to pass first. And check your insurance quotes. Make sure you are properly covered in case something terrible does happen.
Chinchillas!
Over the weekend, my husband and I adopted two female chinchillas. Here is a picture of them. The smaller one in the front is named Rukia and the larger one in the back is named Orihime. (Though I have taken to calling Orihime 'Hime.') They are so adorable! We're currently waiting for a wheel that we ordered for them to arrive. I hope that there will be some quick weight loss for Hime. It's difficult to tell if she's fat, since she doesn't run around as much as Rukia does, or if she's just built bigger. I guess we'll see after they get running on the wheel!
Downtime and vacation planning
There were some very heavy storms that ran through our area over the weekend. Unfortunately, the high winds and load of rain knocked out power to our house for awhile. That meant our server was offline for a few days. I'm sure there are people that would be OK with this. After all, it's not like I can control the weather. However, I hate it when the site isn't working. But we're back online so things can get back to normal. I've been helping my mother try to find someplace nice for my family to go for vacation. There's 7 of us total, meaning it's quite a chore to find somewhere that fits everyone's wants. One of the current ideas is to rent a houseboat on a lake for a few days. I'm not a big fan of water, but I suppose I can put up with it for a few days to make everyone else happy. I'm going to need to figure out how to lose weight fast though. I don't want to spend all week in a bathing suit looking like a whale!
