It's almost here!

There is only two and a half weeks left of the school year for us. Then my daughter's dance recital is the weekend after that. This usually is the busiest time of year for our personal lives. In the past two weeks, my daughter has had 3 concerts. (Well, one was cancelled for weather.) I will be super happy when the school year is over and summer begins. We probably won't get to go on vacation this year but at least we can do some relaxing.

New York, New York

This past week has been a bit harsh on me. So I'm going to talk about the lovely time my daughter and I had in New York last weekend. We were in New York City for a Girl Scout trip to the American Girl store. There were three buses on the trip. Luckily, our bus was pretty quiet. (Considering we left at 7:30AM on a Saturday, I imagine a lot of the girls were still pretty tired.) When we arrived in the city, it was time for lunch at the American Girl cafe. The cafe has little chairs that clip onto the table so your doll can "eat" with you. (Yes, they give the dolls little place settings too.) This was the first time I've ever eaten in the cafe and the food was delicious. After lunch, my daughter purchased one of the dolls from the store then we headed out into the city.

There wasn't a lot that we wanted to do so we followed the other girls from my daughter's Junior troop. We hit up a lot of stores: Lego, NBC, M&M, Hershey, Toys R Us, and a NY Yankees shop. We got a Doctor Who shirt for my husband from the NBC store and my daughter got some Adventure Time dolls from Toys R Us.

Even though it was a very tiring day, both of us had a lot of fun. I can't wait until we can get back to New York.

Middle school, here we come!

My husband and I attended the parent orientation for the middle school last night. Our daughter moves up to the middle school next year and the administration wanted to let us know how things work there. One of the weird things I found out, which was not discussed at the orientation, is that the kids aren't allowed to carry bookbags during the school day. They are allowed to have them for the to/from school trips but not during the school year. That makes no sense to me. Unlike the elementary school, the kids will be transferring classrooms so they will have to carry books around. I'm going to make sure to ask the administration about it. It's not like she's going to be carrying around an expensive kenneth cole briefcase or anything. Then again, schools are infamous for having terrible policies.

Business is booming

I haven't talked about my Zumba business lately. My classes have really grown a lot this year. I've gone from having 5 - 10 people to having 20 - 30 in each class. It is so awesome and it makes me very happy. Besides having much more fun in class, I'm also finding that I have fun when I design business cards online. I would have thought that would have been boring but it's not. I really enjoy mixing and matching styles and colors. Who would have thought the business-side would be as fun as the teaching-side?

Are we done with winter now?

While the first day of Spring actually happened back in March, the weather has still been a bit too cold to really be considered spring. Thankfully, we have moved out of the super cold temperatures. Instead, we have moved into the rainstorm that is April. I hope that the warmer temperatures are here to stay. I really don't like the winter.

Games?

Lately, I have been playing a lot of board or card games with my daughter. Most of them fall into the "geeky" category but I'm not sure if I should review them here. My family does play a lot of board games at holiday gatherings and whatnot so I might have quite a few to talk about. Would anyone be interested in reading board game reviews?

Alma Mater FTW!

One of the local radio stations runs a Christmas Choir contest featuring local schools. There's two categories: K - 8 and 9 - 12. The high school that won this year? My alma mater! As a matter of fact, I was a member of that choir way back when. (It was actually called 'concert choir' back then.) Congrats Neshaminy! Keep up the awesome work!

A mixed weekend

It's difficult to classify my weekend. On one hand, my daughter turned nine on Saturday. Her birthday party went well. Everyone had fun and the food was delicious. On the other hand, I lost a filling in my tooth on Sunday. That means I have to try to make an appointment with my dentist to get it fixed. I also tried (and failed) to find some good outdoor lighting. I park my car behind our house. Normally, there is a regular light back there so I don't have to trip down the stairs in the dark. Unfortunately, that light burns out a lot. I was trying to find a better solution. (Though, the best solution would be to get rid of daylight saving time so I don't have to come home in the dark...) I'll have to do some more looking around. There has to be a better way.

Jdorama update

I am having such a difficult time getting through this series. Currently, I am on episode THREE of Manhattan Love Story. I just can't get into it, which makes me want to do something else instead of watching it. There's eleven episodes for me to soldier through. I have no idea how long it will take me to watch this. My goal is to have it done by Monday. I guess we'll see if it happens. I'll try my best though!

Monday!

Well, OK....I'm not really that excited that it's Monday. Honest. After all, that means another work week to trudge through and it's supposed to rain all day. It's not the best day ever. However, my legs have stopped aching finally. Also, my daughter's birthday is this weekend so I'll be spending most of the week getting ready for that. And I'm to the good part of Zumba training - picking out the songs and getting choreography ready. (I'm trying not to think too far ahead again. We are allowed to sell Zumbawear to our customers so I keep debating the need to research merchandising jobs to see how people handle it. Not yet, Cass.)

So, in all, I hope this week will be fun and mostly relaxing.
