Barefoot but not

You know, for someone that doesn't like shoes a whole lot, I spend an awful lot of time looking at them. My husband and I recently picked up a pair of Fila Skele-toes, which are similar to '5-finger' shoes but there are only 4 slots for the toes to go in. The two smallest toes go in one slot together. The shoes are pretty comfortable but they do take a little getting used to and the women's shoes that I got aren't as cool looking as his. My shoes are grey and pink and look a lot like water shoes. I think I might like them better if they were all black, like my husband's. The goal of the shoes is to be as close to walking barefoot without actually being barefoot. However, the sole of the shoe is hard instead of soft. I like it though. When I step on a rock, I know that I've stepped on something but it doesn't poke through enough to hurt my foot. If you're into the barefoot thing and don't want to spend a ton of money on the Vibrams, this is a good place to start.

It's not summer yet!

Despite not officially being summer yet, we are at the beginning of our second heat wave of the year. It is expected to be so hot that some of the area schools are dismissing students early. My daughter's school isn't currently on the list but today is their last full day of school anyway. They only have three half days left after today. While I do love the summer, I like it when it gradually gets warmer. It sucks when it goes from 60 to 90 overnight. (Note to self: Buy cheap sunglasses. The sun glare hurts during the drive to/from work.) If we're lucky, this will be a short heat wave. I'd like it to be over by next weekend. That is the date of our dance recital. Recital sucks when it's a million degrees out. It can get hot again after recital.

School is almost over

Yesterday was Field Day at my daughter's school. She did OK. Our family isn't really the 'jock' type though. One of the other classes seemed to have all the jocks so they pretty much won everything. (There's three classes for each grade.) My daughter had fun and, really, that is all that matters. As an aside, I'd like to mention that sometimes it annoys me that TV stations have moved from analog tv to digital. We have a TV at work but we don't have cable or satellite or anything like that. We used to just use the analog signal. Then we had to get a digital converter box. Now some of the channels randomly pop in and out. Sometimes we'll get a channel, sometimes we won't. It's annoying.

Full time Zumba dream

I am currently stuck between a rock and a hard place. I would really love to teach Zumba full time. It is so much fun that it doesn't even seem like work. Unfortunately, I can't do that until I can make more money from my classes. I can't teach more classes because I have to keep working full time. I have been looking for a new full time job that will, hopefully, allow me to teach more often but there's a lot of management jobs listed, which isn't what I want. I'm going to keep working hard though. One day I will prevail.

So busy!

I'm sorry that I have been so busy the past few weeks. I haven't even had time to do anything worthy of blogging about. My husband picked up L.A. Noire the other day but he hasn't had a chance to play it. That is the plan for this Memorial Day weekend. On top of that, I am about halfway through Liar's Game. I'm not sure I'll have it finished by next week though. I'll definitely be able to give you some opinions on the video game. It's almost summer! Yay!

Anniversary ideas needed

This year will be my 10th wedding anniversary. Wow. I need some ideas for anniversary gifts. Luckily, I have until October to come up with something good. The traditional gift is tin or aluminum but the modern gift is diamond jewelry. I'm not really into jewelry and the tin/aluminum thing sounds lame. Though...my husband is a big gamer. Maybe I can find him a metal figure of a video game character. Then again, maybe I'll just forget the 'types' of gifts I'm supposed to get him and just go with a nice dinner.
