I am a terrible webmistress. I actually don't have a single thing to talk about. Currently, I'm watching Uta no Onii-san so a review on that should be coming sometime late this week or early next week. And I need to get my butt playing some games again. Somewhat unfortunately, my daughter's school 'project' has been eating up a lot of my spare time. The entire school has been assigned spend 1000 hours reading books. If they reach the 1000 hour benchmark, the principal will be made into a human sundae. If they go over the 1000 hours, a couple of the other teachers will join in on the mess. So, of course, my daughter has been spending loads of time trying to rack up as many hours as she possibly can. Luckily for me, the project ends on May 15. Maybe then I can get my free time back.
The holiday break is over
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Now it is back to the daily grind. I have some jdoramas waiting for me and, of course, I've played a few games over the break. Keep your eye out for many informative posts from us soon!
Holiday Hiatus....sorta
Since I have been completely lax about updating for the past few days, I'm going to officially put The Geek Within on a holiday hiatus for Thanksgiving. Well, sorta anyway. If I find something amazing that I absolutely need to talk about, I'll talk about it. But I'm not going to force boring updates that no one wants to read. I promise that I will be back in full-force next week.
An update
I'm sorry I haven't written much lately. A cold has taken over my body and made it very difficult for me to think. If all goes well, I'll be able to post a couple of things today and I'll be all better by the end of the week. I'll post whatever I can in the meantime.
New Site Stuff
I've decided that The Geek Within needed a new face-lift. You may notice a few wonky things over the next few days as I try to figure out exactly what I'd like the site to look like. The grey theme you are used to was supposed to be temporary but I got lazy. Now it's time to me to decide what I want the site to be and what I want to talk about. As such, you'll probably notice some new topics popping up. I'll still be talking about video games and jdoramas, just not as much as I have been. There will be a bit more music talk...and who knows what else I'll come up with. It'll be fun!
Back online!
We're back up and running! I believe everything is functional and we should be back to normal posting later today. Thank you!
Site Announcement
The Geek Within server will be going down for a short period of time for some maintenance. Please bear with us. Thank you!
Downtime
I have managed to catch myself a rather nasty cold. Unfortunately, this means many of my gaming reviews will have to be put on hold until I can actually play some games again. Hopefully I will be better in a few days and things will be back to normal. Thank you for your patience.
Weekend Downtime
As you probably noticed, we had some downtime over the weekend. The building that houses our server had a power outage. Unfortunately, we were not able to get into the building to turn the server back on once the power returned. Everything is fixed now so posting will be back to normal.
A new newsletter for TGW
The Geek Within has a newsletter over at Yahoo Groups but I am terrible at updating it. I was thinking about giving Zookoda a try. Supposedly they are aimed directly at bloggers, unlike Yahoo Groups which is better for discussion groups. However, my problem is that I just forget to write a news letter and I'm not particularly sure what I want to say when I do sit down to write it. I mean, all my content is on the website so I don't want to just copy/paste what I write here. That would be detrimental to the whole idea of driving traffic to the website. I suppose I don't really have anything to lose by giving Zookoda a try, right? At best, I love the service and everyone will know when to come back to the website to read new content. At worst, I hate it and delete my account. It does look like Zookoda is a part of PayPerPost, which is a service I like even though I haven't used it in a long time. From what I could tell, PPP had a good idea of what would help bloggers become successful businesspeople.
Here is the sign-up form for my subscription, though it will take me a little while to figure out how to put any content into the subscription. Be the first to sign-up and....see if I can figure this out....
Hopefully this will be a lot better than the Yahoo Groups. I think I can customize it to update by itself, which will be a LOT easier for me. I know I'll forget to do it if I have to manually update it. Cross your fingers for me!
