Wow. It's almost been three years since I started TGW. Thanks for putting up with the posts about hemorrhoidal treatments and stuff. I hope that I've been able to entertain a little bit at least. Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish the jdorama over the weekend. I ended up with too much on my plate. With any luck, I'll be able to get through it this weekend. My daughter and I have our recital next weekend so nothing geeky will get accomplished then. However, after that, my schedule frees up quite a bit. Maybe I'll be able to get through quite a few series this summer! Wish me luck!
Upcoming Plans
There will be a video game review coming up in the next few days. I just want to play the game a little more to really get the feel for it. Sorry I'm so slow! I'm also going to attempt to get back into watching jdoramas this weekend. It's been so very long since I'm really sat down and watched anything. I have RH Plus waiting for me. It's a show about vampires. Hopefully it's a really good show about vampires. Though I don't think any of them will be doing the hot 'vampire in a tuxedo' thing. Ah well. That is my goal for this weekend. Finish that entire series.
Shedding the pounds
I really need to lose about 50 lbs. Like most people, I'm not too good at doing this by myself. So I logged back into SparkPeople to help me. I'm going to attempt to stick to their menus since they are portioned to have the right amount of calories I should be eating. Then I just have to figure out how to add in some more exercise. I can do this! It is not impossible!
So busy!
Sorry I haven't been around much. A lot of things have changed at my job and now I'm extremely busy. But this is a good thing for me. I got a raise so maybe I'll actually be able to afford to fix up my house. I'd still love to redo the bathroom. (These Robern Medicine cabinets look awesome...but they cost so much!) First, I have to muddle through the next couple of weeks. Stay with me until this all clears up!
No more polls
Since no one has been answering the Wednesday Polls for awhile, I think I will do away with that feature. I'll try to figure out something to fill the space. Brainstorm with me! On an unrelated note, I'll be heading off to get my haircut in a few weeks. I need to decide what type of style I want. My hair is already pretty short (about chin-length) and it's very curly. Does anyone have any favorite websites to look for hairstyles? I wonder if the stylist will talk about hair loss prevention since I shed a lot. There is tons and tons of hair on the top of my head so, trust me, I'm not in risk of going bald or anything. Some people just freak out when they see how much hair I lose.
Outage and Dance
Sorry about the unscheduled downtime. Our ISP switched (not by our choosing) and, somehow, messed everything up. I'm not particularly happy that the site was down for so long. I'm pondering moving The Geek Within to an outside host. (Currently, the server box for the website is in my dining room.) If I do decide to do that, I will try to make the move as painless as possible. Originally, I wanted to talk about my dance class. I take jazz every Wednesday night and, let me tell you, there is no need for a quick weight loss diet with this class. We dance hard and fast for 45 minutes each week. I've lost 3 inches off my hips just by giving up soda and taking this class. I love it!
Belated Merry Christmas
Ah Monday. It's back to the grindstone for most people. I hope everyone had a happy holiday, no matter what they celebrate. Things went well for me and I got some much needed rest. This week should be the last ultra-busy week for me. Then I can go back to playing video games and watching dramas. I apologize that I haven't been able to do much of either for a long time. I will get my free time back, I swear!
The music is coming!
My weekend was full of various family events so, sadly, I don't have much to offer you today. However, I have started thinking about the music reviews I have been putting off. I'm not sure if I should keep the old format, stay with the current format, or try to figure out a new format altogether. So I'm putting it to a vote. Which would you prefer? [poll id="29"]
June sucks
June has been an awful month for me. The windshield on my car cracked. One of my rear tires got a hole in it. We were hit with a hail storm last weekend that destroyed part of our tomato plants. There's another hail storm that is supposed to roll through today. Then there were some personal problems with neighbors as well. And now I have some sort of summer cold that might possibly be the flu. (No, don't be freaking out that I have the swine flu or anything. I'm not sick enough that I'm going to die or anything.) So, The Geek Within is officially on hiatus until June is over. Luckily, that's only tomorrow ^_^ Goodbye June! You suck!
The State of The Geek
The domain for TGW has been renewed for yet another year. This month marks the second anniversary of The Geek. OK, technically, the anniversary was back on June 1. Way back in 2007, I was migrating all of my reviews and things over from my Vox account. I haven't been watching nearly as many jdoramas since then and that is something I need to fix. So here are some plans for the future: * Watch and review more jdoramas. Even the sucky ones need to be talked about. Possibly retool the format for jdorama reviews.
* Talk more about music. I love music and I've gotten away from talking about it.
* Get back to reviewing video games. I haven't played a lot of games lately. Though I shouldn't just talk about the ones I play. I should talk about the ones my husband plays too.
I will gladly accept any ideas for any other topics you'd like me to talk about. I'm currently into Asian BJD (ball joint dolls) so I can always talk about my experience with various types of dolls.
