In my idleness, I came across a website for human growth hormone supplements. Even though I read the website, I'm not really sure what they do. Are they supposed to make you taller? There's some talk about radiant skin and feeling younger and the pituitary gland, but I don't know what that actually means. They need to just come out and say it in plain English. Annoying ads.
I don't need pills!
Somehow, despite all of the holiday eating I've done, I've managed to lose a few inches off my hips. (It's embarrassing to say, but that is my worst part.) I didn't even need "the world'sbest weight loss pills." All I did was try my best to eat healthier foods. No, I didn't completely deprive myself of junk food. I just limited it to small pieces at certain times of the day. See what a little self control can do!
Movie review: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel

What was missing....was the Chipettes. In the 80s, there weren't a lot of good female characters. Sure, there was She-Ra and Jem, but that was about it. While the Chipettes weren't particularly strong girls, they were good counterparts to the Chipmunks. Whatever the boys could dish out, the girls could too and that was what made them loveable.
So the Chipettes have now entered into the live-action world of the Chipmunks. I loved the Chipettes singing, but their personalities seemed a little off. Britney was always a little more selfish than she was in the movie. Yes, she looked out for her sisters more than Alvin did for his brothers, but in this version, she was just a little too altruistic for their sakes. Jeanette wasn't quite nerdy enough. She should have been able to match Simon fact-to-fact. Yet it was Simon that had to help her when the girls were in trouble. In my opinion, only little Eleanor fit her original personality. She was a tad shy with a heart just as big as her tubby body. Perfect.
One of the things that surprised me was that Zachary Levi, of Chuck fame, played the lead live-action male in the show. I don't remember seeing him in any of the commercials. We all know that good old Dave Seville got laid up in the hospital thanks to Alvin's antics, but we never saw who was taking care of them while he was out of commission. There is no better nerd boy than Zachary Levi. Dave will always be the number one guy in the Chipmunk's lives, but I really hope that the writers find a way to get Toby into the third movie.
Both my sister and I enjoyed the movie just as much as my daughter did. There are some really funny jokes and, as usual, the singing was fun as well. I can't say that it is absolutely worth the money to see it in the movie theater, but it is definitely worth a rental once the DVD or Blu-Ray hits shelves.
No more viruses
A lot of people aren't really sure how to keep their computer from getting viruses. You can't just say "Oh, don't look at these types of websites" anymore. Any website has a chance of being infected. Symantec is usually a decent virus checker. And, if you need help, Symantec support is always helpful. Computers are a necessity nowadays. Do your best to keep your computer virus-free and working to the best of its ability.
Job hunting
Every morning, I try to find a job. Well, a new one anyway. However, I'm not particularly lucky in finding anything that fits me. I'm not sure if it's the economy making the industry suck or if it's my location. It's possible that I need to move somewhere else in the country. I hear the midwest is still doing OK...though I don't think I want to live in the midwest. Tornadoes and all that. I kinda like the northeast, where all we really have to worry about it snow half the year. We don't have earthquakes or hurricanes or tornadoes. Those that we do have are very, very small and not really destructive. Working just sucks.
Favorite Friday
This will be THE funniest horror movie ever!
Now I want to go to Mexico....
While it's supposed to be getting a bit warmer in this general region (we're supposed to hit 45 by tomorrow!), it's still not nearly warm enough for me. To try to get myself warm, I often pretend I'm in a warm place. I was looking at vacation specials for Riviera Maya in Mexico. Some of those packages are really, really cheap. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure they are all for winter travel and my daughter has school. But it would be so awesome to get out of here for awhile....I'll have to talk to my husband about it!
Movie review: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

I wasn't expecting a lot from the movie since I loved the book when I was a child and, as I recall, there isn't much of a plot to it. Surprisingly, the movie is quite good. The writers managed to take the thin book and turn it into an intriguing story with believable, yet funny, characters. Not only were the characters awesome, but the animation was also very good. Most people, nowadays, are looking for cutting edge "realistic" animation. While "Cloudy" isn't particularly cutting edge, the animation is clean and, to put it simply, pretty. The cherry on top is the crop of recognizable actors that were brought on board to give life to the characters. (My favorite is Neil Patrick Harris as Steve the monkey.)
"Cloudy" is definitely a must-see movie. The kids will enjoy it and I think the adults will love it as well. Good fun for everyone!
Speak up!
Hmm...it feels like no one is reading TGW any more. So sad. If you're out there reading, give me a shout in the comments. Let me know how you feel about the site. Too many ads for drug rehabs? Want more music reviews? Speak up! I am at your whim. (Well, maybe not your whim...but at least let me know you're out there!)
So cold....
I know most of the US is stuck in a cold snap. It sucks a lot here in the northeast. I am freezing my little butt off. I wonder if I could talk the husband into moving somewhere warmer. Even if the "warm" places are "cold" right now, they aren't nearly as cold as it is here. Maybe I should look into pricing long distance movers and bring it up to him ^_^
