Jdorama review: Ranma 1/2

Title: Ranma 1/2 Broadcast date: 12/9/11 Genre: Romantic Comedy Cast: Aragaki Yui, Kaku Kento, Watanabe Natsuna What is good: Watanabe Natsuna was awesome as girl-type Ranma What is bad: Pretty much everything else. Letter rating: D

I love the Ranma 1/2 anime series. It is one of my favorite. When I heard about a live action special, I was excited yet hesitant at the same time. Live action adaptations could either be really awesome or really terrible. Unfortunately, this one ended up being terrible. While there are a few cool moments, a majority of the show is confusing and badly acted. I actually think this might have been better if they made it into a series instead of just a one-shot special. It felt like they tried to cram absolutely everything into 1 1/2 hours. Ah well. At least I still have my anime boxsets!

Snowed In

Last night, my husband and I went to see Demetri Martin in concert. I got him the tickets for Christmas. It was an absolutely awesome show. If you ever get the chance to see him, go for it. You won't regret it. Despite the greatness of last night, the snow started falling after we got home. We got something like 5 inches of snow between midnight and noon. My husband and I were supposed to have a couples massage this morning but, due to the suckiness of Pennsylvania roads in the snow, we had to reschedule it. Instead, I spent the day napping, shoveling snow, and looking at personalized memorial gifts for my mom's dogs. (Her dogs died quite awhile ago. I just find the idea of buying memorial gifts for dogs funny. I have a weird sense of humor.)

I hope the roads will be better tomorrow. We have things to do! Stupid snow.

Finally!

I have finished Ranma 1/2! I will have the review for you first thing Monday morning. Today I am going to finish up some work, find a nice titanium wedding band to replace the crappy band I bought 10 years ago, then spend the evening with my husband at a Demetri Martin concert. Just a bit of a breather before jumping back into the review cage. I'll probably need it.

Almost finished!

Unfortunately, my daughter was sick yesterday so I didn't get a chance to catch up on any of my geeky things. She is doing better today and, as a result, I should be finished Ranma 1/2 by tomorrow. I promise that I will not get sidetracked looking at Medical Transcriptionist Jobs and wondering if that would be better than my current job. I will finish the special and have a review ready by Monday. I hope that Paradise Kiss will be better. It's not good when I don't want to finish a show. It makes me procrastinate.

Super Lame

I am super lame. I didn't finish the Ranma 1/2 jdorama over the weekend. Partly because I'm not really liking the special, which is depressing me. Instead, I spent the weekend celebrating my daughter's bowling trophies. She bowls in a Saturday morning league and received two trophies. Her team finished in first place and she had the high series. Of course, now I kinda want to bowl too. My husband used to be in a league but he hasn't bowled regularly in a long time. However, my mother, my stepfather, my sister, my sister's boyfriend, and his mother all bowl together on Thursday nights. I feel a little left out. Granted, I teach Zumba on Thursday nights so I can't bowl with them but I could join a different league. I want to say that I'd do my own thing, like blues guitar lessons, but then I'd still feel left out. Oh, decisions!

I have decided!

I have finally decided what jdrama I am watching next. I knoew I said it was going to be the Paradise Kiss movie but I am putting that off for a little bit longer. Instead, I will be watching the 2-hour Ranma 1/2 live action special. I love the Ranma 1/2 series and movies and I can't wait to see if the live action special lives up to it. (Sorry, I never saw or read the Paradise Kiss anime or manga. I'm only watching it for Kitagawa Keiko.) I am going to be starting it today at lunch and I'm hoping to have it finished by Monday. If I really get into it, I might finish it tonight. Who knows!

January is here!

It seems like it's been forever since I've updated. But now the holidays are over and I can try to get back to a semi-normal life. On the j-drama front, I have the Paradise Kiss movie ready to go. After that, nothing. So it's time for suggestions! Is there a series that you absolutely loved that I haven't watched yet? Or is there a series that you hated so much that you need my validation on how awful it is? Let me know! I'm up for watching anything!

In other news, I am now teaching Zumba four days each week so I don't have tons of free time. Don't worry! I'll still find some time to play games or watch crappy TV shows. It just might take a little while for me to find it.
